I joined the BSA guide staff in 2026.

I grew up fishing in southwest Montana with my dad, casting spinners in high alpine lakes for brook trout. One day after getting done with high school I was bored and went to the local gas station and bought a $25 ugly stick and the biggest Panther Martin I could find. Went down to the river, which I had no clue how to fish, and on three casts caught three large browns. Shortly thereafter I watched a drift boat come around the bend in the river with an angler in the bow casting a fly rod. The next day I drove to the closest sporting goods store that sold fly rods, and bought a $50.00 Fenwick rod, reel, line combo. I spent the next year, teaching myself to cast and fish a dry fly. I fished every spare minute until 1-1/2 years later I caught my first fish on a fly.

In the off season I work for a snow removal company, and spend as much time fishing and exploring with my wife Rachel.

The next bucket list fishing trip would probably be an Atlantic salmon trip in Norway. But any river with Atlantic salmon and steelhead will do.

The current book im reading is the book of salmon by Ephemera, it discusses techniques on tying classic Atlantic salmonflies, as well as some fantastic illustrations of vintage examples of the flies.

I think I was pretty onboard with being a firefighter at that age. Which I accomplished during college, where I was a wildland firefighter during the summers.

When not working my wife and I spend as much time in the outdoors as possible. Hunting big game, steelheading, hauling around our 1966 zipper camper.
