This year, we’re excited to announce that 3% of all purchases between November 17 and December 24 will be donated to the Henry’s Fork Foundation’s DIRTT initiative.
Why We're Doing This?
The Henry’s Fork watershed faces challenges: rising water temperatures, sediment loads, threats to insect hatches, and ultimately fish populations. The DIRTT (“Plan for Cooler, Clearer Waters”) aims to tackle exactly these issues. According to the Foundation: “DIRTT aims to improve water temperatures and turbidity … for the river and the fish and insects that call it home.”
What is DIRTT?
DIRTT stands for “Developing Infrastructure to Reduce Temperature and Turbidity”. The Henry’s Fork Foundation explains that this project includes innovations such as variable-elevation withdrawal gates at Island Park Dam and deep-water oxygenation in the reservoir, approaches never before applied to this watershed.
The goal: cooler, clearer, more stable water for trout, for bugs, for hatches, and for all of us who enjoy this iconic fishery.
