Orvis Interchangeable Parts Program

Orvis Interchangeable Parts Program

Broken rods are a fact of life in Fly Fishing. It's not a matter of "if" but "when" you will encounter a broken rod. Aside from having some of our favorite rods here at BSA, we feel that Orvis has the best rod repair program in the industry.

Rods that can handle a 150-pound tarpon with ease can break. But they usually don't break when playing a fish. They break in car doors, power windows, tailgates, ceiling fans, or they get stepped on by a fishing buddy. There are countless other ways but these are the most common. A broken rod is nothing to be ashamed of--it happens to all of us. But what do you do when your rod breaks and you have a fishing trip coming up? Tom Rosenbauer of Orvis has an answer that will get you back on the water quicker than you thought.

The unprecedented quality control and enhanced manufacturing tolerances Orvis has realized in the Helios, Helios 3, Mission, and current model Clearwater and Recon rods have made it possible to simply send a new tip, tip mid, or butt mid-section to replace your broken one. Follow the simple steps for getting a repair and Orvis will commit to getting you back on the water in 5 business days. Although the standard shipping alert on the checkout page will list 5-7 days—they will upgrade your shipment to 2-day. For broken butt sections, you’ll need to send your rod to us for repair.

**Subject to replacement part availability. If parts are not currently available, you will need to send in your rod for repair. Standard turnaround time for repairs is 4-6 weeks from receipt of your broken rod.

Your rod is eligible for this program if you have a serial number on the reel seat and your rod is an Helios, Helios 3, Mission, Recon, Superfine Glass, Clearwater or Encounter.

How to Submit a Rod for Repair

  1. Login to your account, if you don’t have an account you will need to create one. You must have an account to submit a repair.
  2. Once you’ve logged in, select the U.S. Repairs button.
  3. You will now be directed to a page showing any rods you have previously registered.
  • If you see your broken rod there, click on it and follow the prompts to receive a repair number and return instructions.
  • If you don’t see your broken rod there, you will need to register it first. Click on the “Click Here to Register Your Rod” button at the bottom of the page.
