New from SAGE - Classic R8
Hey, Folks! We are excited to introduce a new rod from Sage with a classic feel, the Classic R8. Here at Big Sky Anglers we are big fans of slower action rods. In fact, most of us have been around long enough to remember the original Sage LL (light line) and consider it one of the best rods of all time. When our friends at Sage told us they were developing a new version of the LL, combining the feel of the original with the performance of R8 graphite, we couldn't wait to get our hands on one. When we finally did, we weren't disappointed.
The CLASSIC R8 family’s deep-loading, smooth, and Moderate action brings the physical feel of the cast - line, leader, and fly - directly to the angler, allowing for ultimate precision, control, and accuracy. When the fish is hooked, the rod’s deep bend protects light tippets and lets the angler feel every move of the fish. Anglers looking for the ultimate in hand-to-fly-to-fish feel will find it with the CLASSIC R8.
R8 Technology allows for a deep loading blank with incredible feel while simultaneously increasing blank recovery speeds - significantly enhancing the rod’s ability to aerialize and control the cast at a variety of distances and conditions. For the angler, the CLASSIC R8 is a complete breakthrough in the line control capabilities of a deeper loading Moderate action rod.
While the new CLASSIC R8 rods are a culmination of our most advanced materials, componentry, and application- specific tapers to date, the aesthetics span the decades of Sage history and fly fishing itself. Throughout the rod are colors and accents that call to mind the early days of the company, yet they’re presented in unquestionably modern forms and details. We’ve incorporated the highest-quality and most progressive parts and components, from cork and handle shape to guides, wood insert, and reel seat. Overall, the rods are timeless and fit for any generation. We expect they’ll be fished for a lifetime, maybe two.
