The Galvan Reel Co. was originally started as a small-batch machining business in 1993 by Bonifacio and Carmen Galvan in the California foothills trout country. Their first reels were the Standard arbor series and the Open-Back mid-arbor series, which were super-smooth and super-reliable, with a strong west-coast following. In 2004, Galvan launched the large-arbor Torque reel, which introduced a stunning new look and the super-reliable and smooth Torque drag system that is still used in the current Torque and Rush series reels. The Torques awakened the fly-fishing world to Galvan’s unique combination of optimized strength, weight, aesthetic, and reliability. Twenty years later, the Torque is still going strong, and Galvan is still a family business manufacturing and servicing high performance fly reels in the USA.
