meet nicco

Nicco, or “Tano” as many of you know him, joined the Big Sky Anglers guide roster in 2021.

He is the definition of a true, international angler and guide.   Born in Italy, Nicco began fishing at age 8, and never looked back.

Nicco’s first job in fishing was as a fly fishing instructor at a summer camp in 1987.

Nicco holds an ichthyology degree from MSU-Bozeman.  While pursuing that course of study, Nicco also made time to investigate the local fishing, and came to know the local waters well.  He made a number of connections across southwest Montana, impressed a local outfitter with his knowledge and ability to teach, and was given his first guiding job in 1995.  Nicco eventually ended up guiding in Italy, Slovenia, Argentina, and the US.  For 12 years, he also owned and operated a fly shop located in Florence, Italy.

These days, Nicco splits his time chasing the endless fishing summer and guiding here in West Yellowstone as well as in Argentina.

When he isn’t traveling and fishing, Nicco enjoys cooking and photography.
