meet mark

Mark Johnson has been guiding these waters of Yellowstone Country since 1988, having learned the craft from a lineage of well-respected anglers who were pioneers here in the 70s and early 80s.  Mark’s lengthy career in flyfishing has made him equally at home in a drift boat on Montana’s Madison, deep in Yellowstone National Park, and on the Henry’s Fork.  His attention to detail lends itself to guiding flyfishing and his knowledge base is incredibly extensive.  Mark has mentored some of our senior guide staff in their younger years, and we’re thrilled to have him on board with Big Sky Anglers.  A native of the Pacific Northwest, he has been involved in the pursuit of salmonids for most of his life.  Mark is a consummate outdoorsman and lives year round in West Yellowstone with his wife and Gordon Setters.
