Learn from the Master
We are excited to partner once again this summer with acclaimed angler, author, instructor, guide, and friend George Daniel to host this special Introduction to Euro Nymphing Clinic.
This intro level course is tailored for the beginner to intermediate level Euro nymph angler and includes 6 hours of detailed instruction, from 9am to 3pm, on Saturday, July 29 or Sunday, July 30, 2023.
a passion for
teaching
Hailing from the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania, George Daniel is a former competitive angler for Fly Fishing Team USA, and the current Head Coach for the US Youth Fly Fishing Team. He has written three books and has published countless articles for fly fishing magazines. Currently he is the director and lead instructor for Pennsylvania State University’s Angling Program.
The clinic will be broken into two parts (indoor and on the water). The in-door component will include a brief classroom session where George will discuss fly patterns, rigging, basic Euro nymphing casting approaches, essential presentation skills, and possible solutions to a variety of Euro nymphing scenarios. The on-the-water component will focus on putting the information to the test and honing your new skills on local waters. George will demonstrate casting and euro presentation fundamentals and then will spend the remainder of time working with students one on one. Time will be allotted to address any questions after the clinic.
Euro Nymphing
Focus
Euro Nymphing (aka, tight line nymphing, Czech nymphing, or nymph fishing without an indicator) is not difficult, but it does require understanding a few simple principals including casting, fly placement, reading the drift, and proper rigging for changing conditions. This class will focus on those basic principles along with essential tools and fly pattern selection for successful days on the water.
