Over the weekend most of Montana saw 50-80 degrees and sunshine. The skiing at Big Sky was wonderful…at little warm but we are not complaining one bit. The Yellowstone River did not fish that well last Friday as it was too bright for fish to much of anything. We did manage to get a few fish on nymphs, dries and streamers, but we worked aweful hard to do that. Most of the rivers and streams are still clear after the weekends warm weather, but the Gallatin was off color and I heard the Big Hole came up as well. Cabin Creek was muddy down inbetween the lakes this morning. Since Mother Nature has given us another dose of Winter, I would expect to see the rivers in southwest MT stay clear for a while. How long? Your guess is as good as mine.

Currently as I write this report, it is snowing sideways here in West Yellowstone.  I am headed down to float the Madison around Ennis tomorrow and will write a full report in the next day or two. There is more precip in the forecast for the next day or so and then back to sunny, warmer weather. The weekend is looking like BWO weather…maybe, just maybe if we get the warmer air and overcast conditions.
