VALLEY GARDEN FISHING ACCESS SITE ON MADISON RIVER REOPENED
BOZEMAN—The Valley Garden Fishing Access Site one mile north of Jeffers on the upper Madison River has reopened to public use.
The site was closed to vehicles in November 2010 because of dangerous ice buildup and impassable conditions. The site remained closed until now due to the damage cause by the ice and flooding. Crews recently repaired the damage and cleaned up the site for reopening.
Ennis Fishing Access Site one-half mile south of Ennis was closed at the same time as Valley Garden. That site remains closed as crews repair significant damage to the access road. FWP is working to reopen Ennis Fishing Access Site by the Memorial Day weekend.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience during these closures,” said FWP River Recreation Manager Chris McGrath. “We would especially like to thank Madison County for helping us repair the damage to the site.”

So, what does this really mean? Well, the stretch of river from Ennis bridge to the lake is still closed and will open up on May 21st. Having Valley Garden opened back up, now allows folks to float from Burnt Tree to Valley Garden. We haven’t heard when the Town FAS site will open back up yet. There is a lot of work to be done in there from this past winters ice flow destruction.
