the longest night of the year

by | Dec 21, 2011 | 0 comments

The Elm, hard at work.

This morning we woke to a fresh white layer, but not as deep as was hoped for.  Snow piled up through out the day, however it didn’t ever add up to much on the west side of Yellowstone National Park.   It all helps, but a good winter storm would be a wonderful Christmas present.  As the longest night of the year plunges below zero, we wait for another storm.  Will it come on Monday?  hmmmmm……hard to say.  To the north and south of us, more snow fell last night.  Fellow Alpen Guide, Hotcake, had 8 inches on his rig when he woke this morning down in Last Chance.   Weird how that happens from time to time.  I saw a yellow bombardier cruising around Old Faithful, heading for Flagg Ranch and I got coach envy.   For now, those of us on the west side are rolling through Yellowstone in vans……….
