The Lake.

Spring run off has made Hebgen pretty dirty around the lake’s arms.  Grayling Bay and the Madison Arm are brown.  Infact, the mud line extends from Grayling bay, past the narrrows to the pipe on the north shore.  The entire Madison Arm is blown until you get to the mouth of the South Fork arm. The South Fork Estuary is fishing pretty well and there are magnum Midges hatching.  The west end of the lake is clear and fish are eating streamers with some regularity.  Don’t get me wrong, its not off the hook, but if you stick with it, you will have success.  Black & white streamers worked the best last night on floating lines fished from the boat towards shore.  A motor boat is key to success on the lake.  I have been fishing with Jonathon Heames out of his lakeboat and now I have a serious hankering for a boat with a motor.
