Cold morning on the Missouri
Since October 4, the state of Montana has felt more like December than mid-October. Sideways snow, 10 degree mornings and freezing guides. Guide trips were starting around 11 or 12, soup and lunch by 1 o’clock and hitting the ramp by 6. Yesterday, the weather finally broke and the sun came out. By the end of the week we are supposed to see 68 degrees……what a weird Fall this had been.

Nymph fishing with flies at 3-6 feet has been great. The dry fly fishing has been pretty darn good, but no big #18 Baetis….yet……okay there have been a few, but not many. Water temps are still hovering around 53 degrees, some folks think that water temps have to hit 48-50 degrees for the big baetis. They’re right. Streamer fishing has been spotty, but good. If you stick with it, you will get some nice fish.
