Last Monday, Steve and Clark showed up for their 8th annual fishing trip to Montana. Normally, we head up to the Missouri, but since the trout weren’t rising, we headed elsewhere. Once Steve’s luggage arrived, 4 hours later on another flight, we jumped in the rig and made our way to Ennis, Montana. The next four days were spent running between the Madison, Ruby and Big Hole Rivers. The Ruby, by far, fished the best out of the three. There were plenty of nice brown trout rising to blue-wings and at one point I counted over a dozen fish rising in a rifle. Snow and rain fell throughout the trip, and the wind showed up as well to make things a little difficult from time to time. Luckily, Clark and Steve and seasoned anglers and came prepared for the weather. If your in our neck of the woods and looking for quality food, The Sportsman in Ennis has a great chef this season. We ate there every night and I can’t say a bad thing about it….great wine and wonderful steaks.
