Started raining early this afternoon and began to pour down about an hour ago. We heard lightning and thunder for the first time this season. It is 40 degrees at the cabin…..makes one wonder what it’s like above 8000 feet. The weather cleared out for a moment and there was not any new snow covering the trees in the high country above Hebgen Lake. Hmmmmmmm……..here comes run off. I would expect to see Cabin and Beaver Creeks running hard with mud this evening. The Madison River in YNP has been on the rise for 5 days. I would bet that the West Fork might even get a little dirty too. When it cools off tonight, more snow will fall in the mountains and the tribs will clear up. The forecast for the next several day is cold and wet with night time temps in the mid 20s.
Stay tuned for more updates on Run Off.
