Smith River Canyon

It has been too long since I have floated the Smith.  6 years ago today, I was on the Smith River, somewhere in the 30 miles long canyon stretch. These photos on this post are from that trip. There are a bunch more in the photo gallery as well.

 Preparing for this 60 mile float trip takes some time and organization.  There are many commercial outfitters that run the Smith from June- August, water permitting.  In the weeks to come, I will be highlighting the Smith River and those who run it.  For those of you interested in floating the Smith with a qualified outfitter, stay tuned.  Big Sky Anglers is putting together a Smith River Float trip which will be offered for next season, 2011, through one of the Smith River commercial outfitters.  This trip is expensive – 5 days/ 5 nights  – $3700 per person.  This is one of those trips in life that you will never forget.  A bucket list trip for sure.
