Madison River Lyons to Mac

Over the past two days we have had beautiful weather. Prior to that, it was cold, rainy and windy for several days. On Friday, the flying ants exploded out of the ground and fish were rising for any ant pattern and were quite stupid about it. I had the pleasure of being off yesterday, so a local guide and myself floated the river in the afternoon and had great dry fly fishing. We fished a Royal Stimulator infront of Rowan Nyman’s foam ant and boy did we have a good time. We saw tons of 16+ inch trout and even managed to get a few larger ones to the boat. Once trout feed upon those ants, they will look for them for several days.
