Madison River Fishing Report 07.02.2012

Big Bugs are throughout the entire river.  Also hatching are: goldens, PMDs, Green Drakes, several sizes of Caddis and Yellow Sallies (olive and yellow).  The Madison is busy, but of course it always is around the 4th of July – dating back to the 1970’s.  If you are floating and want to be alone, hit the ramp early and get off the river early.  If not, be prepared for a few boats on the river.

The Madison is good right now – really good.  However, your drift must be free of drag.  Get it in the right spot and fish will eat your fly.  Nymphing?  Yes, of course.  The wade stretch has great nymphing for those willing to walk.
