Madison River

I guided the Madison today from Lyons to Windy and was pleasantly surprised to see the fish on the bite. The river is not clear, but one can see the rocks about 12-18 inches down. Plenty of visibility for trout see stone flies and caddis pupa. We caught fish drifting from the boat today more so than the last week. There has not been much for dry fly fishing, but we did have three fish eat the orange indicator today……Salmon flies are around the corner. The river should be in prime shape by the time the big bugs emerge. I have another trip tomorrow in the wade section. the river clarity up higher on the Madison is better.
