Ten days ago, I recieved a photo of this archery whitetail buck, shot by my father on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Adams County. Illinois has four counties that are well known for huge bucks – Brown, Adams, Pike and Schuyler. There are several other counties boasting huge whitetails, but growing up in western Illinois one tends to be biased about the local region. Since his retirement from teaching 12 years ago, my father splits his time between the duck blind and the tree stand throughout the fall. One will never shoot a buck like this if you don’t live in the woods. This buck has yet to be scored…….there are 16 points over one inch.
