Joe Moore is a co-owner and senior guide here at Big Sky Anglers.  He grew up in the small mid-western town of Quincy, Illinois, along the banks of the Mississippi River.  Joe’s father introduced him to the art of fly fishing at age six, while on vacation in Yellowstone National Park.  After chasing bass, bluegill, channel catfish and trout around the mid-west from his float tube for 10 years, Joe headed west for the second time with his father.  That was the summer of 1992, and sometime during a magical three weeks of traveling around Montana and Yellowstone, living in a pop-up camper, and fishing from dawn to well after dusk, it all clicked.

During his college years, Joe began his career  working for Montana River Outfitters on the Missouri River in Wolf Creek, MT. Three seasons later he moved to West Yellowstone to work for one of the local shops, and in 2004 he founded a small outfitting business called Big Sky Anglers.  How things have grown since then!

In all, Joe has been guiding clients on the Madison, Gallatin, Missouri, Yellowstone and the waters of Yellowstone National Park since 1999. He is well regarded by guides and outfitters across SW Montana – a testament to his friendly nature, professionalism, strong work ethic, and outstanding skill as a guide.  Joe is also a member of the R.L. Winston Fly Rods and HatchPro Staffs, and a signature fly tier for Montana Fly Company.

When he isn’t guiding or out fishing himself, he loves adventuring on foot or skis with his awesome wife Molly, or bird hunting with his dog Stella.
