GUIDED FLY FISHING TRIPS
Top quality, but gentle instruction is the trademark of our focused and relaxed style of guiding. Big Sky Anglers employs some of the Rocky Mountains’ most patient and experienced guides to provide you with an unforgettable fishing experience. Whether you’re a novice, expert, or somewhere in between, there is always something to learn from a day of guided fishing.
A day or two of fly fishing with us will help novice anglers cut the learning curve and give the more experienced angler a chance to hone skills or learn new techniques. The first time a brown trout peaks its nose out from behind a rock and grabs your dry fly, you will be addicted. It may be the fishing that first grabs you, but it’s the experience of an entire day spent on the river in good company that will make you a lifelong fly fisherman and, hopefully, a lifelong friend of Big Sky Anglers.
Your trip can and will be tailored to provide what you are hoping to get out of it. If you want the trip to have a more instructional focus, maybe honing in on specific techniques or skills that you’d like to improve, please let us know and we will be sure to set you up with the right guide on the right water. If you just want to get out anywhere where you will have the best chance of getting into some fish, we can arrange that as well. The most important part is to communicate that with us ahead of time. We are happy to discuss options and go over the details with you. It’s your trip, and we are here to make it as fun and memorable as possible. Just give us a call and we will get the ball rolling.
TRIPS WE OFFER
We offer Full Day Guided Trips and three-hour-long Introduction to Fly Fishing Clinics in both walk/wade and float fishing formats. We conduct our trips on waters including: the Madison, Gallatin, Yellowstone, and Missouri Rivers and Hebgen Lake in Montana; the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, and Henry’s Lake in Idaho; and the waters of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone Park is walk/wade only. Our forest service permits also allow us to guide on many of the areas smaller and more remote streams and lakes.
Generally our trips are designed for two anglers per guide. Walk/wade trips can accommodate to 3 anglers per guide in some instances. If you have a larger group, we can easily arrange for multiple guides to fish with your group.
Trip fees cover your guided fishing, instruction, transportation to and from the river, flies, leaders, a hearty sack lunch (full day trips only), and non-alcoholic beverages. Wader/wading boot rental and rod/reel/line rental are also included in the trip fees when needed.
Anglers who fish with us are responsible for obtaining and bringing valid fishing licenses, appropriate clothing for the expected conditions, and personal items such as polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, fishing hat, and rain gear. We also encourage you to bring along your own rod/reel/line setups (5 and 6 weight with floating lines are standard), waders and boots, and a camera. If you will be fishing in Yellowstone Park, your general Park entry pass will also be required. If you don’t have one, they can be obtained when we enter the Park the day of your trip. We sell Yellowstone Park fishing licenses in the fly shop and have a computer station set up for customers to purchase ID and MT licenses online, so we can easily set you up with the right licenses for your guide trip if you don’t already have them.
