Finally, some snow graced our mountains and it now feels a little more like winter. I would bet that there was almost 8 inches on the ground before the winds kicked it up and turned the ground into wave-like formations of snow…..the drift. There was a skinny drift three feet up the back door earlier this evening as the northern winds blew in the cold. It read 8 below on the way home tonight and the moon to the east over Yellowstone was lighting the way ….brrrrrr. With the new snow, came another day on the skis. Today felt better, more in control on the downhill decent. Still though, I am far from gliding down the mountain and effortlessly dropping the knee into the deep powder making turn after turn….it will happen. Huck on the other hand has the powder all figured out.
