There were midges rolling down the bank upon arrival to the Madison this afternoon. A couple of noses poked through, but nothing consistent. My boys in Texas just got back from a long weekend in Big Bend National Park. Guided the Madison today in the pouring rain, wind, cold ass weather and then snow……my customer was a tough cookie and held up in harsh conditions. Yesterday’s cloudy weather and rain showers made for a solid morning of trout fishing on the Madison River below Lyons Bridge. We had to work for our fish, but we got em’. Yesterday, Sunday that is, was tougher than old rawhide on the Madison River. At points during the day, I wanted to give Bud and Gary their money back because the river just wasn’t cooperating with their good drifts and well presented flies.
