Greetings from Patagonia where a new fishing season is underway and the El Encuentro Family is excited to welcome you back to your home away from home in Argentina.
Fishing has already been terrific, and we couldn’t be more excited about the outlook for this upcoming season. Precipitation has been above average since last summer with plenty of rainfall, and a significant snowpack remaining high in the Andes. Water levels should be excellent through the Spring and well into the summer, which is especially encouraging for our smaller, more intimate fisheries.
We take great pride in our diverse fishing program and the many unique private fisheries we access. El Encuentro pioneered the sport of fly fishing in central Patagonia, opening the region’s first fishing lodge in 1985 - El Encuentro Lodge - and expanding into the frontier in 2016 with the Brook Trout Basecamp. Our deep roots in central Patagonia have enabled us to discover and acquire private access to some of the most productive waters in our region and to have the most inspiring, riverside locations for your lodging. As we have since the beginning, we continue to explore and push deeper into the Frontera (frontier) to provide you with new, exciting, remote Patagonia experiences. We can’t wait to share these hidden gems with you this season!
In addition to our ever-expanding fishing program, we are thrilled to show off some improvements at the El Encuentro Lodge, and the Brook trout Base Camp. When you visit, you will find that we have been hard at work, in both the lodge and the camp, to make your stay with us more comfortable and enjoyable.
